Sparks Foundation

Overview

SPARKS Foundation is a community-driven organization developing a decentralized digital identity platform. What makes it special is its fully decentralized structure - it's a founderless, memberless, non-profit foundation where all decisions are made by the community through a DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization).

Context

SPARKS had a tricky challenge - they needed to explain digital identity technology in a way that made sense to everyone, not just tech experts. I teamed up with a Staff Product Designer to transform SPARKS website from technical to approachable.

Timeline

March 2023 - May 2023

The challenge

The original SPARKS website faced two major issues: it was difficult to understand and hard to navigate.

Content Issues

  • Heavy technical language throughout the site
  • Filled with specialized jargon ("self-sovereign identity", "data-minimized business models")
  • Text was too formal and corporate
  • Hard to understand what SPARKS actually offered

Design problems

  • Inconsistent spacing between elements
  • Large, unused spaces between sections
  • No clear hierarchy of information
  • Missing clear calls-to-action
  • All content appeared equally important

The solution

I transformed the website into something that worked for everyone

  • Clear explanations without technical jargon
  • Clean, organized layout
  • Natural flow from learning to joining
  • Consistent design
  • Mobile-friendly experience
  • Strong CTA's
